'Just 'William' Books
‘Just William’, was a series of stories written by Richmal Crompton between 1922- 1970. The central character, was a slightly dishevelled & mischievous, school boy William Brown, the eponymous ‘anti- hero’ of all the books.
William's age never changes for the entire series, and he remains eleven years old in perpetuity!
The books, reflective of prevailing attitudes of the time, which may now cause ‘offence’, were (& remain) very popular and need to be recieved in this context.
The books have been adapted for the cinema, television, the theatre and radio and continue to delight contemporary audiences & readers!
